This article will give you basic idea things you need to carry as a trekker. If you are planning for solo trek you will need more other gear as well. this guide is just to join a group where your trek organizer provide other required things. eg. Food

Things to Carry : some essential things you should carry during any trek himalaya.
Trekking Shoes
Bring a good quality (grip) water proof trekking shoe with medium or high ankle support. Don’t bring new shoes directly in the trekking, at least wear for a week before a trek to understand the fitting of the shoes. Investment in the shoes is always worth. You can wear your sports shoes during road journey towards base camp but not during trek (not advisable).
Back pack + rain cover
While purchasing backpack you should check if it is available with rain cover or else you will have to buy rain cover separately. Check the basic strength and essential pockets available in your backpack. Also check the size of backpack, normally we suggest 50-70 litre size for 5-6 days trek. You can purchase as per your size requirement remembering you have to carry all your weight.

Day pack + rain cover
During trek, you should carry most essential things in day pack instead of putting it in rucksacks. Some important essential things which you have to carry in your day pack are water bottle, some dry food/chocolates, water proof jacket/raincoat and your personal medicine.
T shirts
Bring quick dry type comfortable t-shirt with synthetic material. Don’t wear cotton t-shirt during trek as cotton one get wet easily and takes time to dry. Also bring one or two full sleeves t-shirts which is useful for layering.
Trek pants
Bring 2 pair of comfortable quick dry trek pants, avoid cotton pants and also bring 1 pair waterproof/windproof trek pants
Sweater/ Fleece Jacket & padded Jackets
Sweater/fleece jacket is useful to keeps you warm. A fleece is a lightweight casual jacket made of a polyester synthetic wool. Padded jacket is best in high altitude trek as well as snow trek where temperature goes below 0 degree Celsius.
Water proof jacket/Poncho/Raincoat
Bring water proof jacket or you can bring raincoat or poncho as per your requirement.
Thermal wear : Upper and Lower
Must bring one upper and lower pair of thermal for the winter trek. Don’t wear thermal during trek, keep it for when you reach campsite.
Walking stick / Trekking pole
It is very useful in maintaining your body balance and also reduce the pressure on your knees. Bring at least one for any type of trek, it will be helpful.
Head Torch
hand torch would be alternative of this but head torch is advisable because it keep your hand free.
Water bottle/hydration pack
2 bottles of 1 litre is advisable and 1 bottle if you carry 1 litre hydration pack. Bring good quality plastic bottle instead of steel flask.
Woolen gloves/ water proof gloves
Must carry woolen gloves & water proof gloves is useful during snow trek.
Sun cap & woolen cap
Cap that cover neck is advisable as it protect neck portion as well. woolen cap to cover head in cold weather condition.
Hiking socks
Bring 2-3 pair of full-length clean socks, don’t bring 100% cotton socks as it absorbs sweat and dry slowly. Bring one pair of woolen socks to stay warm at campsite.
Sunglasses
it is must for high altitude snow trek. Person having spectacles can use custom made powered sunglasses.
Knee cap
Helpful if you have any knee injuries, also useful to support your knees.
Cold cream
As per your skin requirement, bring small size tube.
Sunscreen lotion
If you need, you can bring 50+ SPF sunscreen lotion.
Personal Medicine
Bring some essential medicine for your daily need and first aid kit. Get it done by your personal doctor.
Anti-fungal powder
It is totally optional to bring this one. It will be helpful during no bath days and as well for the socks and shoes to dries early.
Dry food
You can bring some dry fruits, chocolate, protein bar, energy bar and some glucose-powder to balance your energy level during trek.
